The University of Windsor is asking its students to report any suspicious people after two women were spooked in separate instances on the weekend.
Campus police posted crime notices to the doors of student residences after a woman was allegedly followed home to Alumni Hall early Saturday morning. A second woman confronted a man allegedly watching her through a window at Canterbury College.
The first female student was walking south on Sunset Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Saturday when she thought she was being followed. She confronted the man and called 911.
The man ran through Clark Residence toward Patricia Avenue.
The second incident happened at 2 a.m. Sunday. A woman alleges a man was seen with his pants down and watching her through a window at Canterbury College on Riverside Drive.
The woman yelled at him and he ran east on Riverside Drive.
University of Windsor Campus Community Police are investigating both instances.
Neither the campus police nor the university believes the two instances are related or that the same man was involved in both. University spokesperson Holly Ward said the descriptions of men are vastly different and the instances occurred on opposite ends of campus.
"You have one that’s on the south side and one that’s on the north side. And the descriptions [of the suspects] are different," Ward said.
Police describe the first suspect as a skinny, Hispanic 21-year-old, who stands 5-foot-10 and speaks with an accent. He has black curly hair just past the ears. He was wearing jeans and a dark blue button down shirt with stripes.
Police describe the second man as in his 30s or 40s with facial hair and wearing a dark coat.
Ward said no one was harmed in either case but said, "it’s certainly something of concern."
Last year, there were several instances of a peeping Tom in a women's washroom of Electra Hall over a three-month period.
