Police said the man demanded OxyContin from this drugstore in the University Mall. (Google) Police are searching for a man who tried to rob a 24-hour drugstore on Windsor's west side early Tuesday morning.
Police said a man walked into the Shopper's Drug Mart in the University Mall at about 2 a.m. and demanded OxyContin.
The pharmacist refused to give it to him, so the man said he had a knife. After being refused again, the man panicked and ran from the store.
Staff Sgt. David Kiger said police know very little about the man.
"It's pretty vague at this point. It's a male, white. He had a hooded sweatshirt on, light coloured. And that's all we have," Kiger said.
Kiger is asking anyone with information to please call Windsor police.
"I don't know that we've have had a lot of robberies per se, but it seems to be that drugs seem to be the central focus of a lot of our problems right now, whether it's robberies, break and enters or frauds at pharmacies and what not," Kiger said.
