The Ojibway Nature Centre is closed while the city gets ready to move the offices into an upgraded building.

The new centre is just a few metres north of the old building.

The facility has been upgraded to meet the Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design gold standard, an internationally recognized certification for green building design.

The city isn't sure when it will reopen. It depends on the weather, and construction schedules, said the city in a release on Thursday.

The new nature centre cost $1.8 million dollars, and was funded in part through federal and provincial infrastructure grants.
