A 29-year-old man facing a murder charge does not deny he was involved in a fatal stabbing outside a Windsor nightclub last year.
Kenyatta Brown has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder in the death of Nicholas Ingram, 24, last year.
Brown's trial opened Monday with a statement by Assistant Crown Attorney Shelley McGuire, who read a number of facts agreed to by both the Crown and defence including that Brown stabbed Ingram just after 2 A.M. at Leopards Lounge and Broil 1190 Wyandotte St. W. on July 21, 2009.
McGuire told the jurors they will likely hear testimony that there was bad blood between Ingram and Brown and that after exchanging words in the parking lot Ingram took a swing at Brown and Brown stabbed Ingram simultaneously with a knife.
McGuire told jurors that the evidence will show Brown left the scene — presumably with the knife — but later turned himself in.
McGuire also said Ingram fell to the ground seconds after the stabbing and his vital signs were absent when paramedics arrived on scene.
A short time later at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital Ingram was pronounced dead.
The trial continues.
