Border wait times at the Ambassador Bridge connecting Windsor, Ont., with Detroit, Mich., will now be posted on Twitter as part of a pilot project to communicate wait times at all land border crossings between Canada and the United States. (Dave Chidley/Canadian Press) Travellers crossing the Canada-U.S. border can now find out how long the wait is at a given crossing by subscribing to a Twitter feed.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has launched a three-month pilot project to publicize wait times at 22 border crossings across Canada using the microblogging service Twitter.
"The CBSA is committed to applying low-cost technologies like Twitter to keep service delivery standards high without increasing costs to the taxpayer," said CBSA president Stephen Rigby in a news release on the agency's website.
Users can search for the land border crossing they're interested in, choose to follow the Twitter feed for that crossing and then check the feed to find out the current wait time when they need to using their computer or mobile device.
