Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a robbery at this Shoppers Drug Mart in Windsor, Ont., on Tuesday. (Vincent Robinet/CBC)Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a robbery at a Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy in Windsor, Ont. on Tuesday morning.
At about 9:00 a.m., a man wearing a black balaclava to cover his face walked into the store, at 2109 Ottawa St., and demanded methylphenidate, a psychostimulant drug, from the pharmacist, police said.
The pharmacist gave him a bottle of the drug, which is also sometimes called Ritalin. Then the man, whose face had been almost entirely covered through the incident, turned and removed his balaclava before he left the store and fled on foot, police said.
A picture of his face was captured by a surveillance camera in the store. Police used that image to track the man, who was known to them, to an address in the 900 block of Howard Avenue, where they arrested him.
The man is also suspected in a similar robbery that took place on Friday at a Rexall Pharmacy in Windsor.
He's scheduled to appear in court today, where he faces charges of robbery and using a disguise with intent to commit robbery.
