Health officials in Windsor and Essex County will impose strict restrictions on who can receive the H1N1 flu vaccine at an H1N1 clinic in Leamington, Ont., on Monday afternoon.
Only pregnant women, people under the age of 65 with chronic medical conditions and healthy children aged six months to five years will be eligible, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit website.
The clinic in Leamington was supposed to have been the third public clinic in the region.
But health officials organized a last-minute clinic at the Novelletto Rosati Complex, an indoor sports complex in west Windsor on Saturday.
More than 1,100 people were vaccinated, all of whom "met the criteria," according to Deb Bennett, WECHU's director of health protection.
"Individuals are very patient. It's running very smoothly," Bennett said of the clinic. "The reason why is the screening process is already in place."
The region's first two clinics were anything but smooth.
Both of those drew so many people that lineups were hours long and hundreds were turned away without being vaccinated.
