Windsor Spitfire Taylor Hall, seen here after his team won the Memorial Cup on May 24, 2009, said Thursday's season opener against the Plymouth Whalers is no time 'to get complacent.' (Ryan Remiorz/Canadian Press)The Windsor Spitfires will kick off their 2009-2010 Ontario Hockey League season Thursday night with a much-anticipated home opener against the Plymouth Whalers.
The defending Memorial Cup champions are five and three in pre-season games, with victories already against Plymouth and the Sarnia Sting.
Leading the Spits will be forward Taylor Hall, 17, the Most Valuable Player of the 2009 Memorial Cup and 2009 OHL playoffs and expected to be the first pick in the 2010 NHL draft.
As champions, "everyone's got the game with you circled," Hall said.
"Opening day is no time to get complacent," he added. "We're going to have to know that every team is going to come out and play us hard. We're going to have to come out and bring our 'A' game every night."
