A Grade 12 student from St. Anne Catholic high school has won a $5,000 investment in his start-up business.
Jesse Hebert, 17, is the seventh Future Dragon Fund winner, sponsored by CBC's Dragons' Den and business commentator Kevin O'Leary.
Jesse was looking to land the money to invest in his photography company.
He plans on spending 80 per cent of the money on equipment and 20 per cent on promotion.
Until winning the $5,000, Hebert used grandparents' computer and free-trial photo editing software to edit his photos. He used the free photo-sharing site Flickr to promote his business.
"I come from a middle class family so purchasing necessary equipment is my biggest struggle right now," he said in his video entry in the contest.
Hebert's mom was watching the Lang and O’Leary Exchange on Newsnet when O'Leary, who is also a photographer, mentioned his photo exhibition and the contest.
"She called me right away, two weeks later I submitted my video," Hebert said.
Hebert was "shocked" when he won.
"I’ve never been so shocked about anything in my life," he said. "I’m so grateful for everything this contest has provided.
"I think it’s a good push and has really motivated me to push my business to go further."
