Roosting bats have closed a community centre in Chatham, Ont., just east of Windsor.
Services inside the WISH Centre on King Street East have moved its services to other sites around town while staff deals with the bats.
The centre houses Public Health clinics, the local black historical society and a community gymnasium.
Tim Dick, a director with the municipality's infrastructure and engineering services department, said several bats were removed sporadically over a period of a few weeks.
Dick said the closure is a precaution as crew work to solve the problem.
"Routine maintenance of the building’s exterior allowed suspected points of entry to be sealed," Dick said. "As follow up, the points were inspected on the inside of the building and some droppings were discovered.
"It's not a good idea to leave them there and so we're going to clean them up."
