The puck has dropped and the 2017 Memorial Cup is underway.
Fans from as far as Seattle crowded the stands at the WFCU Centre Friday night and are already enjoying different displays set up around the athletic complex.
"It's unbelievable," said Memorial Cup event chair John Savage. "I came early so I could get ahead of the crowd … but I'm surprised there are so many people out already."
Visitors can check out different Fan Zones and showcases from the military and Hockey Hall of fame. The Molson Hockey House is also offering food, drinks and live entertainment.
"There are three great areas for people to come out and enjoy themselves and it's all free of charge," Savage added.
Marty Ross, a Spitfire's season ticket holder for more than a decade, said he was excited to see his team play in the tournament.
"This is awesome, it's historic," he said. "I think the fans are going to get a good show with all these great teams and players here."
