Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man they say was driving double the speed limit, drunk, with open alcohol in the car.
On Tuesday night around 9:30 an OPP officer saw a black BMW speeding eastbound on Colborne Street in Chatham-Kent.
Police said the car was clocked by police radar travelling 162 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Police said the officer pulled the car over and tested the driver for alcohol.
The breath test registered a warning reading, but the officer then allegedly found open alcohol inside the car.
The 41-year-old driver from Chatham is facing a charge of street racing, as well as failing to surrender a driver's licence and driving with open liquor in the vehicle.
Individuals charged with street racing immediately have their vehicle impounded and licence suspended for seven days.
If convicted, there is a minimum fine of $2,000 and a maximum fine of $10,000.
