Police probe death of senior found in burning home
Windsor police believe a fire was deliberately set in a house, where a man was pulled from but was later pronouced dead, on the weekend.
Firefighters were called to a home at 828 Louis Ave., at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, after a neighbour called it in.
The fire was quickly brought under control, but the man who was pulled from the building was pronounced dead at the scene.
During a Sunday afternoon news conference, police identified the victim as Dale Allen Young, a 65-year-old Windsor man.
Police have not released information on the cause of his death, though it is being investigated as a homicide.
Staff Sgt. Todd LaMarre told reporters that Young had rented the Louis Avenue home for the past two years.
Young was known to socialize at his home with people from the Windsor and Toronto areas. Police are now in the process of identifying and interviewing those people.
LaMarre said police are trying to gather information about the final weeks of Young’s life, including his movements and the people he had contact with.
"We have a number of persons of interest that we're tracking and we're interested in speaking with several," LaMare said.
