Pain Court, Ont. woman told police swerving to avoid a recycling bin caused her to crash, but officers later learned she allegedly placed the bin on the road herself.

Police say 25-year-old lost control and hit a hydro pole

A Pain Court, Ont. woman is charged with public mischief because police say her account of a car crash to appears to be phony.

The 25-year-old woman was driving on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham last month when she failed to make the turn on to Lowe Street, lost control, hit a power pole and went into a ditch, according to Chatham-Kent police.

She told police she had to swerve away from a large blue garbage can in the middle of the road.

But an officer later learned the garbage can was taken from a nearby home and strategically placed in the street after the collision.
