Windsor police have announced a fourth arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing of University of Windsor student Gautham (Kevin) Kugathasan.

Kugathasan, 19, died on Oct. 19 during a downtown “melee” police say saw five other people wounded in addition to the deceased.

Windsor police Chief Al Frederick has said the incident was one of the most violent and chaotic brawls he has seen in his career.

Police announced this weekend that 23-year-old Ahmed Jaber was arrested in Windsor on Friday afternoon. He faces an assault charge and is accused of assaulting the deceased.

Three other men have been charged in connection with the same incident.

Dwayne Nicholas Pierce, 22, is accused of first-degree murder, while 23-year-old Abdul Al-Bousaleh faces aggravated assault and weapons charges. Ali Mahmoud Ahmed, 30, has been charged with possession of a weapon.

Kugathasan’s surviving family have said that the victim was studying criminology and had hoped to be a probation officer.
