Minivan hits boy near Windsor, Ont.

A boy from Harrow, Ont., was hit by a minivan on Walker Road Friday afternoon and taken to hospital in London with serious injuries.

An 11-year-old boy from Harrow, Ont., is in hospital recovering from serious injuries after he was hit by a minivan.

The accident happened on a rural area of Walker Road outside Windsor between South Talbot Road and County Road 8 on Friday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police said the boy's mother had parked her vehicle on the shoulder on one side of the street, and was talking to the boy's father who had pulled over on the other side of the street.

The boy was standing in front of his mother's car when a minivan hit him, throwing him into a grassy ditch at the side of the road.

The boy was first taken to Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital in Windsor, before being transferred to London.

Police were continuing their investigation Monday but had not laid any charges.
