A man was killed and his wife suffered more than 20 stab wounds in a bloody attack at their home in rural Michigan.

Police arrested two suspects Friday morning, just hours after the attack in Yale, north of Detroit.

Yale Police Chief Michael Redman said the suspects wore Halloween masks as they broke in through a window around midnight and surprised the couple in their bed.

Redman said the couple — who are in their 50s — fought with their assailants, eventually driving them out the front door.

He said the man died of his wounds and that his wife suffered a punctured lung and is in serious condition at a hospital.

The suspects' names and connection to the couple have not been released.
