A farmer who was badly burned in a field fire in Lakeshore has died.

CBC News spoke with the wife of 58-year-old Jean Paul Papineau.

She says he died in a London hospital around 5 p.m. Monday.

The Woodslee-area man was hurt on Sunday afternoon as he was tending a field fire.

His wife was the one who found him and called for help.

The man suffered severe burns to his upper body and was taken to hospital.

The Lakeshore fire department put out the fire, which covered an area 50 metres long and six metres wide.
