Divers will inspect the Jiimaan on Friday morning to determine if the ferry suffered any damage when it struck a submerged log at the Kingsville harbour Thursday afternoon.

The evening sailing to Pelee Island was cancelled.

"There's all kinds of debris that floats on the lake. It's not something that you can easily manoeuvre a big ship out of the way,"

Pelee Island Mayor Rick Masse said. "It's unfortunate that apparently it might have hit the props, and that's what they're going to go down and take a look and make sure that everything's okay."

The Pelee Islander will provide service from the Leamington dock Friday if the Jiimaan can't sail.

"Hopefully, we'll find out that everything's good so they can be put back into service," Masse said.
