Investigators probe 'suspicious' Windsor pizza shop fire
A fire that tore through an east-side pizzeria on Thanksgiving Monday is now considered suspicious.
Windsor Fire and Rescue spokesperson John Lee said the fire at 1129 Wyandotte St. E., is now being jointly investigated by the fire department, the local police service and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Lee said there is no specific cause identified so far.
He said that the interior investigation continues at the scene.
The fire, which started around 4:30 a.m. Monday, is estimated to have caused $500,000 in damage to the Original Pizza Brothers building at the corner of Wyandotte Street E. and Marion Avenue.
Lee told CBC News that this is the fourth fire to occur at the same address within the period of several years.
A news release from the Windsor police says that the Monday morning fire was called in by officers who were on patrol.
