Hilary Payne quits library board
Coun. Hilary Payne has resigned from the Windsor Public Library board.
He announced his resignation early Friday.
In a media release, it is said Payne is pleased to have been been in place to direct the operations of the library during "a chaotic eight-week period."
Payne became acting chair after Coun. Al Maghnieh resigned when it was learned he charged $8,400 in personal expenses to a library-issued credit card. He paid the money back.
In the media release, it was described as a "public relations tsunami."
Payne is said to also be pleased "to have initiated a solid base on which the new board can function noting in particular the creation of new policies on travel and business, electronic media, and purchasing cards."
The media release said changes "will greatly reduce the risk of any future scandals."
Payne said he appreciates the assistance provided by the library staff during the last few months.
