Police in Chatham-Kent, Ont., had to pull a naked, drunk man out of the Thames River early Sunday morning.

They were called shortly after midnight to check on an unconscious man underneath the Third Street Bridge.

While they were searching the area, a 20-year-old man jumped in the river and swam to other side, where police had to assist him from the river.

The man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held at police headquarters until sober.

Officers managed to find the man's clothing by the river and return the items to him.
