Drunk driver banned from road for 10 years

Goran Cavic pleaded guilty to impaired driving on Monday and the judge banned him from driving for a decade.

A 32-year-old man from Wheatley is banned from driving for a decade.

Goran Cavic pleaded guilty on Monday to impaired driving.

He was drunk when he ran a red light and slammed into a transport truck in Kingsville three years ago. Cavic's car burst into flames, and the truck driver and a passing school teacher pulled him out.

Cavic was two-and-a-half times over the legal limit for alcohol.

Cavic suffered broken bones, and had to have his leg amputated. He's unable to care for himself because of a head injury.

Besides the driving ban, a Windsor judge fined Cavic $2,500 and placed him on a year's probation.
