Driver stopped doing 165 km/h on country road
Police in Chatham-Kent have charged a young woman with speeding after she was pulled over near Wallaceburg.
Police stopped the woman on Kimball Road at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday.
Officers recorded a vehicle travelling at 165 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
A 19-year-old Dresden woman has been charged with speeding and issued a summons to appear in court.
In Ontario, drivers travelling at 50 km/h above the posted speed limit can have their licence suspended and vehicle impounded at the roadside.
In addition, the driver can be charged with street racing and if convicted, fined up to $10,000, six demerit points, up to six months in jail, and up to a two-year licence suspension for a first conviction.
