Deadly weekend on Essex roadways

Two men died in separate accidents in the town of Essex, Ont., in southwestern Ontario on Sunday.

Two men died in separate accidents in Essex County, Ont., on Sunday.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to a single vehicle crash at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, on the Sixth Concession near Smith Road in the Town of Essex.

Police said the driver lost control of the 2001 red four-door Chrysler Intrepid while travelling westbound on the gravel road.

Officers said the vehicle went off the road and struck a culvert in a ditch.

The driver, who police said was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car.

He has been identified as Alexander Henderson, 33, of Windsor, Ont.

Second death 9 hours later

On Sunday around 1:45 p.m., OPP responded to a single motorcycle crash on County Road 50, between County Road 41 and Wright Road in the town of Essex.

Police said the motorcycle was travelling westbound on County Road 50 when he lost control and hit a tree, before coming to rest in a grass area on the side of the road.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

He's been identified as Louis Levack, 60, of Amherstburg, Ont.

Police are investigating both incidents.
