Coun. Al Maghnieh accused a fellow Windsor city councillor of taking a cheap shot at him during a debate Monday night.
Council was discussing whether to audit Enwin Utilities.
Maghnieh supported the motion put forward by Coun. Alan Halberstadt.
Then, Coun. Percy Hatfield questioned why Maghnieh has not paid back the money for an audit done at the library in the wake of Maghnieh's credit card spending scandal.
In the spring, it was discovered Maghnieh had misused a library credit card while serving as chairman of the board.
Maghnieh took issue with Hatfield raising the point during the debate about Enwin.
"You voted for a punishment well beyond the integrity commissioner. You refused a payment plan within my means I was able to pay back. So the cheap shots are not appreciated, and quite frankly, I've paid a price, and continue to," Maghnieh said. "I'm standing up for myself right now, because I'm sick and tired of being kicked in the gut. Stop it!"
The city's integrity commissioner, Bruce Elman, recommended council allow Maghnieh to serve on boards and committees as of Jan. 1, 2013.
instead, council voted to suspend for 90 days, and make him unable to sit on committees, boards and agencies for the remainder of council's term.
As for the Enwin audit, council voted 9-2 against it.
