Coun. Al Maghnieh is allowed to sit on some city committees.

He was banned from doing so more than a year ago after a library spending scandal in 2012.

Monday night, a majority of council decided it was time to lift the ban.

Maghnieh says he's grateful:

"I'm very grateful for the ability to serve on committees, formulate new policies and be part of the debate when it comes back to council," Maghnieh said. "Regardless of what the issues are I'll be able to have a strong voice at the table again

on behalf of my constituents."

Maghnieh says he's particularly grateful to his colleagues for that vote of confidence.

"For me, it comes down to two things, trust and working with my colleagues, working together and making sure that we all get along, in a very civilized manner and that there's a good working relationship and it's a trusting relationship," Maghnieh said.
