Convicted Sarnia police officer resigns
A Sarnia police officer charged with several criminal offences resigned from the police service Monday.
The 39-year-old officer was arrested Oct. 18 for violation of bail conditions related to outstanding sexual assault charges.
Those charges were filed by police in Chatham-Kent in November 2009.
The officer, who cannot be named because of a publication ban, had been convicted of assault in a domestic violence case in September of this year, and received a conditional sentence.
He will remain in police custody until Nov. 8.
