City's snow angels program on the way out
There are 350 seniors who want to use the free snow removal program, but only 80 volunteers
The City of Windsor's snow angels program could be coming to an end.
The public works department wants to cancel the volunteer snow shovelling program, in part because of a shortage of volunteers.
Liability and finances are other issues.
City councillor Hilary Payne supports the move to end the program.
"I think I have to support it because I voted for a zero tax increase and that's part of it ... and for the other reasons as well because it serves a fragile community," Payne said. "It is a pity that it has to stop and hopefully he city will find some other organization to take it over."
Right now, there are 350 seniors who want in on the snow removal program, but only 80 volunteers.
