The $30,000 fire started in a garbage bin at the back of a clothing store on Tecumseh Road East.

The cause of an early morning fire at an east Windsor clothing store is listed as "undetermined."

It started in a garbage bin at the back of a clothing store on Tecumseh Road East.

Firefighters extinguished the flames before they crept inside.

"We don't know whether or not someone put something in that may have ignited, improperly discarded something, or [if it was] someone going by who actually lit the garbage on fire," said Lee Tome, who speaks for Windsor Fire and Rescue. "At this point, we don't know.

"It's fortunate that someone did see the fire in its early stages to give us the opportunity to respond quickly before the fire did extend into the roof area and into the building."

The fire caused $30,000 in damage.

"There was some light smoke in the building, but no fire damage," Tome said. "And I believe no water damage to the clothing area."

Anyone with information about how the fire started is asked to call Windsor police or Crime Stoppers.
