A provincially-appointed supervisor officially started his reign to stabilize the finances of Windsor’s Catholic school board Tuesday.
Norbert Hartmann has assumed financial control of the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board on Tuesday.
"It is a privilege to take on the role of supervisor at the [WECDSB]. I know the school board and the community very well and am committed to bringing out the full potential of both during my time as supervisor," Hartmann said in a statement.
Hartmann said strengthening the school system and focusing on student achievement are his priorities moving forward.
Students, parents, staff and board trustees will be kept apprised of the supervisor’s decisions, according to the statement.
Hartmann plans to meet with senior administration and trustees in the coming weeks.
Then parents and staff will be consulted and Hartmann said he will release a public report "on how we intend to get the school board back on track."
"My role as supervisor, for however long it may last, is only temporary," the statement concluded.
