The Canadian Union of Postal Workers fighting back against cuts to service.

Canada Post announced last year it will stop urban door-to-door delivery.

A rally to oppose those cutbacks and job loss is planned to happen at Windsor City Hall Square on Monday afternoon.

"It doesn't have to be this way. They aren't in dire straits like they tell you they are," said Jeff Carrol, president of CUPW Local 630, representing more than 400 members. "There are other options, like postal banking and parcel businesses. There are other ways to go."

Rallies have already been held elsewhere, including in Ottawa on Sunday.

More than 1,500 people marched from Ottawa’s Dundonald Park to the Prime Minister’s office across from Parliament Hill to call for other solutions to a projected $1 billion deficit by 2020.
