Police have identified human remains found in a minivan that was burning in a farmer's field in Kingsville, Ont., on Dec. 2.
The Ontario Provincial Police said Tuesday that they had identified the dead man as Thomas Whittaker, 86, of Kingsville.
Whittaker's death is not considered to be suspicious, the OPP said.
The body was found in a 1998 Plymouth Voyager minivan in the middle of a Kingsville farmer's field in the 1600 block of Road 2 East.
Fire crews were alerted to the fire by neighbours.
They arrived at the scene to find the van engulfed in flames. After the fire was brought under control, firefighters discovered the body.
The body and the van were sent to Toronto to be identified.
The OPP does not consider Thomas Whittaker's death to be suspicious, contrary to what was reported in an earlier version of this story.Dec 14, 2010 12:15 PM ET
