A body has been discovered near the abandoned zoo on Belle Isle in Detroit.
Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' law enforcement division are investigating the incident.
State police said in a media release that a citizen made the discovery just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers said it appears the body was at the spot it was discovered "for a long period."
The body has not been identified and is awaiting autopsy results from the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office.
"At this time it does not appear that foul play is a factor," Michigan State Police said in a media release.
