The man who threw a banana on the ice during an NHL pre-season game in London, Ont., has been fined $200 for trespassing.

Christopher Moorhouse, 26, tossed the fruit at Philadelphia Flyers' player Wayne Simmonds as he was trying to score during a shootout against the Detroit Red Wings.

The September incident garnered international media attention — Simmonds is black, and Moorhouse was accused of being racist.

However, court heard Monday there was no evidence the act was racially motivated. Instead, Moorhouse's act was called silly or stupid.
