Windsor Fire and Rescue crews doused an apartment fire in east Windsor on Monday night.

Smoke was seen coming from this building in the 2700 block of Meadowbrook Lane before 10 p.m.

When the first crews arrived, additional firefighters were called in to help.

A Transit Windsor bus was dispatched to keep displaced residents of the multi-residential complex warm.

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.

John Lee, with the fire department, said the damage is estimated at $40,000.

"It's mostly smoke and water damage because it was in a storage area," Lee said. "There weren't any occupied units in that area. I believe there's an adjacent unit and one above that have some damage."

Lee said only two people remain displaced. One person remains in hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

There's no word on what caused of the fire.
