The massive $1-million fire at Sprucewood Industries on Windsor's west side has been deemed to be arson.

Windsor police say the investigation continues.

The industrial fire at the plastic recycling facility, Mayor Eddie Francis to declare a state of emergency for an area of the city.

During the blaze, a Windsor fire spokesperson said that at one point, 75 per cent of the nearly 57,000 kilograms (or 125,000 pounds) of plastic was burning at Sprucewood Industries, a plastic recycler in the 700 block of Sprucewood Avenue.

It became public after the fire that inspectors found several infractions at Sprucewood Industries during an inspection in 2008. 

The arson unit is now handling the investigation.

No suspects have been named but the unit has some leads.

Police believe there's still information out there.
