A teenage boy and an adult were killed in two separate accidents in Edmonton this past weekend.

A 17-year-old was killed Sunday when his car was broadsided by a pickup truck on Winterburn Road near 45 Avenue after he swerved to miss an animal and lost control of his vehicle.

A passenger in the car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup driver was not hurt in the accident.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man died on Saturday after being thrown from a pickup that collided with a gravel truck in Edmonton's south end.

Neither victim's name has been released. The deaths were Edmonton's 12th and 13th traffic fatalities of the year.
