Twenty-eight truckers are staging a protest near Havelock.

They've parked their rigs on the side of Creek road and stopped hauling gravel for the TransCanada Highway construction project.

Doug McDavid, a spokesperson for the truckers, says a sub-contractor for the construction project isn't paying them enough.

McDavid says rising fuel costs are partly to blame.

He says more trucks are coming from the Saint John area to join in the protest.
