Police are searching for a suspect after an apparently random stabbing near Yonge-Dundas Square sent a man to hospital on Tuesday evening.
Investigators at 52 Division say an injured man in his 20s stumbled into the Pickle Barrel restaurant on Yonge Street at about 7:30 p.m. He had been stabbed in the thigh.
He lost consciousness and was rushed to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not considered life threatening, police said.
An early report from the scene indicated the man had been stabbed while inside the restaurant.
Police said they are looking for a black male suspect, wearing a black windbreaker and allegedly carrying a large knife. Investigators are reviewing video footage of the scene and expect to release more information.
The busy intersection is just a few blocks from the spot where noted cancer researcher Mark Ernsting was killed in a random stabbing last month. The downtown core also recently saw the apparently unprovoked stabbing death of 28-year-old Rosemarie Junor in a Shoppers Drug Mart.
