Woman, 74, in life-threatening condition after being struck by car near Victoria Park and Danforth

A 74-year-old woman is in life-threatening condition after she was struck by a vehicle near Victoria Park and Danforth Avenue, Toronto paramedics say.

Secord Avenue from Newman Avenue to Dawes Road has been shut down for the investigation

A 74-year-old woman is in life-threatening condition after she was struck by a vehicle near Victoria Park and Danforth Avenue, Toronto paramedics say.

Paramedics were called to the intersection of Dawes Road and Secord Avenue just after 1 p.m., where the driver of a construction van made a right turn onto Secord Avenue and hit the woman as she crossed at a crosswalk.

The woman is currently in hospital with head injuries.

The driver was unhurt and remained at the scene. Police say there is no indication that alcohol played a role in the accident.

Police say they have shut down Secord Avenue from Newman Avenue to Dawes Road for the investigation. 

There is no word on any charges at this time.
