One woman was sent to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after a two-alarm fire broke out inside an apartment unit at 200 Wellesley St. E. Monday morning.
The fire on the 19th floor of the large building was reported just after 7 a.m. and extinguished shortly after. The fire was contained to one unit and flames and smoke could be seen coming from an apartment window.
A large fire at the same building in September 2010 injured 17 and forced 1,700 residents to evacuate. Many were kept out of their apartments for months while the damage was repaired.
The high rise is part of Toronto Community Housing, the largest social housing provider in Canada.
