It's going to be a challenge getting around in some parts of downtown Toronto this weekend.

The intersection of Spadina Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard is going to be partially closed so the TTC can carry out repairs to the streetcar tracks and do some electrical work.

The closure is scheduled to run from Friday morning until Monday morning at 5 a.m.

As part of the work the ramp from the eastbound Gardiner Expressway to Spadina Avenue will be closed.

The city is asking drivers to use either the Jameson or York-Bay-Yonge ramps as an alternate.

Some traffic will still be allowed through the intersection, but drivers should expect long delays.

Cab driver Baffor Awuah works weekends and he's not looking forward to this one.

"It's going to be terrible. The driving is gonna be terrible," he said.

Also this weekend the TTC is closing the downtown section of the University Avenue subway.

There will be no service between St. George and Union stations on March 2 and 3 and further disruptions throughout March.

The TTC says it needs to close the system so it can carry out signal repairs.

Shuttle buses will replace the subway on the University Avenue portion of the route.
