Weekend brings road closures, downtown subway shutdown
No subway service in entire downtown loop on Saturday and Sunday
There will be no subway service south of Bloor Street this weekend as the TTC continues to upgrade its 60-year-old signal system.
On both Saturday and Sunday there will be no subway service from Bloor–Yonge Station on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) to Union Station. There will also be no subway trains running between St. George Station station and Union Station.
The represents the entire downtown U of the Yonge-University-Spadina line.
The TTC will operate shuttle buses south of Bloor, but the buses won't go all the way to Union Station due to construction on Front Street.
Passengers heading to Union Station can access the underground PATH system from the Royal Bank Plaza at Front and Bay. TTC staff will be on hand to offer assistance.
Regular subway service will resume Monday.
Saturday street closures
- The Dundas West Fest will close Dundas Street West street to traffic Saturday between Lansdowne and Ossington Avenues from 8 a.m. and midnight.
- If you're driving into the city on Saturday, Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed from Strachan to Windermere Avenues on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
- On Sunday, the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre and the Bloor Annex BIA will host their annual street festival, The Annex Festival on Bloor, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will close Bloor betwen Bathurst and Spadina streets from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- On Sunday the Portuguese Day Parade will cause street closures along its route: Lansdowne Avenue at Bloor Street; south along Lansdowne to College Street; east on Dundas Street West to Gore Vale Avenue. The parade begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m.
