As Toronto police try to track down the person responsible for a devastating fire in Kensington Market last week, video has emerged of a man seen in the vicinity of another fire that razed a garage behind a neighbourhood restaurant just days before.
Luis Vega is the owner of El Arepazo, a restaurant located on Augusta Avenue.
He lost $20,000 worth of restaurant equipment after a garage burned down on Nov. 24.
A security camera captured footage of a man who is apparently seen throwing objects on the fire and then watching it burn, even as Vega and others rush to the scene.
Six days later, the camera records footage of what appears to be the same man, returning to the scene.
Hours later, a fire on Oxford Street caused more than $1 million in damage and gutted a century-old row house, while damaging others.
The fire was subsequently found to be caused by arson.
Police say they believe that a single individual is responsible for both the Augusta Avenue and Oxford Street fires.
