Police have arrested two suspects after a shooting in downtown Toronto.

Police confirmed the shooting took place on Sherbourne Street, south of Bloor Street. It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in front of Clarion Hotel and Suites.

One man was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

It's not clear how or why the man was shot.

One of the shooting suspects was arrested at the scene, while the second fled in a vehicle going north.

Witnesses say he crashed the vehicle into a post near Yonge Street and Marlborough Avenue and continued to flee on foot, before police caught up with him and took him into custody.

Another shooting was reported around the same time near Avenue Road and Dupont Street. Emergency personnel were also called to the scene.
