Toronto police are looking for a male Toronto Transit Commission bus driver wanted on child pornography charges.

Darren Padilla, 47, of Toronto is wanted for two counts of possessing and one count of accessing child pornography.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Police confirmed Padilla is a bus driver.

Padilla has gone by the name of Darren Laite in the past.

He is described as five-feet-11, 190 pounds and bald with hazel eyes.

Investigators from the Toronto police child exploitation section say Padilla is known to drive a grey or green Toyota Camry with the Ontario licence plate BXPP 121, according to Const. Caroline de Kloet.

"He may be around driving in this vehicle," she said. "If you come across this vehicle, do not approach the car and call police immediately at 911."

De Kloet said she could not explain why Padilla has used different names.

Thursday, child exploitation investigators searched Padilla's home in Scarborough. They say they found child sexual abuse images and videos on a computer.

Police say he has access to firearms. They say their search for Padilla is focused on Toronto's east end, where he is believed to have friends and family ties.

Brad Ross, TTC executive director of corporate communications, confirmed Padilla is a current TTC employee but declined to indicate his years of service.

"The TTC is working with police and providing assistance in any way we can," Ross said.

The TTC completes a background check on all operators, he said.

Padilla passed the background check, as well as a vulnerable sector check, according to Ross. Padilla hasn't reported for work in the last 24 hours, he said.

"We obviously haven't been able to speak to him," he said.

Anyone with information on Padilla's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 416-808-8500 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
