TTC subway passengers dealt with a "brutal" commute this morning as a number of factors combined to create significant delays on the Yonge-University line (Line 1).

A fire at Davisville station caused delays and three unrelated passenger emergency alarms led to further problems.

An operator on Line 1 told subway passengers the following over a subway train intercom: "I want to take the time to apologize for this absolutely brutal commute this morning."

The TTC  has been trying to cut down on the number of passenger assistance alarms activated in non-emergency situations.
