Durham Regional Police say Tanya Berlass, 35, will appear in court today.

On Aug. 28, 2013, police and paramedics were called to a Bowmanville home where they found the boy without vital signs. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem investigation determined the boy died of blunt-force trauma. He was being cared for at a family friend's home at the time of his death.
