Good morning! As of 6:30 a.m. it was -14 C in Toronto, so make sure to break out your puffy coat, hat and mitts before heading out the door today.

It's already the coldest day of the winter so far, but at least there will be some sun. A mix of sun and clouds is expected, with a bitterly cold high — if you can call it that — of -11 C.

An extreme cold alert is in effect for Toronto, another first of the season.

The alert triggers additional services for the homeless including the opening of two 24-hour drop-in centres, additional shelter beds and increased street outreach.

The cold weather will stick around through the overnight, with a low of -15 C. Thankfully, a bit of a warm up is expected for tomorrow with temperatures expected to reach a high of -3 C.
